Eight seniors sign letters of intent to play college athletics

Eight Pattonville High School seniors signed letters of intent to play college-level athletics on scholarship.

Darion Clark signed a letter of intent to play football for Southwest Baptist University, a member of the NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) Division II.

Jeremy Fechtman will play soccer for the University of Indianapolis, a NCAA Division II school. He was a member of Pattonville's soccer team that earned a trip to sectionals last fall. He was named All-Region and All-State Honorable Mention.

Marquis Hayes Jr. will play NCAA Division I football for the University of Oklahoma. The team is ranked 10th in the Big 12 Conference. During his senior year at Pattonville, Hayes was named All-State Second Team, All-Conference Lineman of the Year and All-District and All-Conference First Team offensive line.

Kaleb Herbert signed to play baseball for Fontbonne University, a NCAA Division III member. He played on the Pirate baseball team last spring when it was named Suburban XII South Division Conference Champions.

Richard Henderson signed a letter of intent to play on the NCAA Division I basketball for Austin Peay State University. Henderson was named All-Conference First Team for his performance on the Pirate basketball team in 2015 and 2016. He recently recorded his 1,000th career point.

Max Spitzmiller will play baseball for NCAA Division II member Northwest Missouri State University. He played on the Pirate baseball team last spring when it was named Suburban XII South Division Conference Champions. He also earned All-Conference Second Team honors as a first baseman and pitcher.

Madison Utley signed a letter of intent to play soccer for Missouri Western State University, a NCAA Division II school. She was named St. Louis All-Region and All-Conference First Team last spring.

Josh White also signed to play baseball for Northwest Missouri State University. He played on the Pirate baseball team last spring when it was named Suburban XII South Division Conference Champions. He also earned All-Conference Second Team honors as third baseman.

Pattonville's coaching teams for these students included: Rob Simpson, head baseball coach, with assistant coach Victor Fink; Kelly Thames, head basketball coach, with assistant coaches Antonio Bryant, Travis Harris, Jason Ohlsen and Dominic Varner; Steve Smith, head football coach, with assistant coaches Bryant, Fink, Harris, Scott Hauser and Corey Lewis; Marcus Christian, head boys soccer coach, with assistant coach Dan Woehrmann; and Tom Iffrig, head girls soccer coach, with assistant coach Stephanie Huseman.
