|Wednesday, February 22, 2017|
Pattonville High School senior Mitchell Skaggs has been named a finalist in the 2017 National Merit Scholarship competition. He is among approximately 15,000 students nationwide earlier named semifinalists who met all the requirements to advance to finalist standing in the competition. Skaggs is among the Top 1 percent highest scorers in the nation on the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
Approximately 1.5 million students enter the National Merit competition each year. Of those, some some 50,000 with the highest Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) Selection Index scores (critical reading, mathematics and writing skills scores) qualify for recognition in the National Merit Scholarship Program as either a Commended Student or a semifinalist.
All finalists will be considered for National Merit Scholarships to be offered in 2017.
