|Author Tim Green greets Pattonville elementary readers|
|Thursday, March 16, 2017|
Author, former NFL player and renowned television broadcaster Tim Green recently visited elementary students from throughout Pattonville to talk about the importance of education, reading books and good character. Every elementary school in the district sent fourth-graders to the event, which was held at the Pattonville High School Community Auditorium. Rose Acres Elementary School was also able to include third- and fifth-graders due to its proximity to the high school.
Green is the author of several sports-related children's novels, including the new "Baseball Genius." He was an All American football player at Syracuse University where he studied writing before being drafted by the NFL to play for the Atlanta Falcons. He later became a lawyer, writer and television broadcaster for FOX NFL Sunday, Good Morning America and more.
During his visit, Green shared how even though his own childhood dream was to become an NFL player, he had another dream equally as powerful to become a writer. He urged students to put school before sports and to think about success in terms of personal relationships and kindness rather than fortune and fame.
As he does after all his school visits, Green donated his presentation fee back to Pattonville to use to purchase books for children who cannot afford to buy them.
