|Pattonville CFO earns state recognition|

Ron Orr, chief financial officer for the Pattonville School District, was named the 2017 School Business Official of the Year by the Missouri Association of School Business Officials (MoASBO). The award honors MoASBO members whose work demonstrates personal excellence in service to their school district, community and profession.
"This award recognizes Ron for the outstanding work he has done for his district and community," said MoASBO executive director Kim Cranston. "During his time in Pattonville, he has led the district in implementing a number of improvements and innovative programs that insure the district's financial stability, saved the district millions of dollars and upheld the district's emphasis on being good stewards of the community's resources."
In his role as CFO, Orr oversees the finance, purchasing, technology, facilities and printing departments. He was named chief financial officer at Pattonville in 2003 after serving as the district's director of accounting for one year. Orr was previously employed as manager of school accounting at Washington University in St. Louis and as a special projects coordinator at Corporate Express Promotional Marketing. He holds a bachelor's degree in business administration with a major in accounting from the University of Missouri-St. Louis and passed all four parts of the CPA exam.
As part of the MoASBO award, the district receives a $1,000 scholarship to be presented to a graduating senior. Orr has been a MoASBO member since 2002. He has served MoASBO as a member of the board of directors, president and chair of the legislative committee. He has been a member of the international Association of School Business Officials (ASBO) International School Finance Committee (2012-2016), is the current treasurer for the Missouri United School Insurance Council (MUSIC) and was a founding trustee and is the current chair of the Investment Committee for the Cooperating School Districts (CSD) Retirement Trust.
