Remington students, staff rock their school

There was no clowning around at Remington Traditional School on Nov. 4 … actually, there was. There was a lot of it.

Students and staff in kindergarten through fifth grade dressed up as circus performers on Friday and participated in Rock Your School. Presented by Get Your Teach On, the professional development company encourages educators to create an outside-of-the-box experience for their students.

Teachers created high rigor and high engagement lessons and classes rotated to the different rooms throughout the day.

Ben Johnston created a math scavenger hunt around his classroom and Karrie Peter’s had students learn the science of balance at the circus. She had students balance a stick on the tip of their finger with a lump of Play-doh near the bottom and then at the top. As an extra activity, Emily Cook had students draw a picture of a clown following instructions on an art tutorial video.

At the end of the day, all students attended an assembly where staff performed circus acts.
